God has had me sitting on the shelf for over a year now, improving my music, writing skills, redording, mixing and learning to play bass and keyboard. Now I feel Him calling me to go out and start performing again, but I don't want to get ahead of Him, so I'm patiently waiting on His direction. Our church has recently opened up a "video cafe" where people can go sip coffee while watching the service on a large plasma screen. This cafe will soon be utilized for christian music venues on Friday and Saturday nights; basically a coffee house atmosphere. My pastor heard some of my music on my website and has asked me to perform there whenever they get all the bases covered with the fire marshall, etc. This has been my confirmation that He is calling me back into active ministry, so I'm beginning to prepare for it. The first thing I'm trying to accomplish is to memorize a song set, which is not all that difficult since I've written the songs and composed the music, but it still takes a while to get to the point where you can do them by second nature; which is where I want to get to. Previously, I would take my songbook with me, but now feel that it is time to perform by memory which allows you to really get into the feeling of the song much better. Right now, and maybe forever, I'm going to use my own backing tracks which contain keys, bass, lead guitar, drums and background vocals. First I have to purchase the correct epuipment to be able to do this in a professional manner, such as a power amp and sufficient speakers, which is going to cost around $1000.00. I know that He will provide when the timing is right and He will guide me in the right direction. So...................I wait...................... Praise Him for all things, and in all situations, |

We were dog sitting while a friend was away for the weekend. My wife went to the master bedroom with the dog to lay down. She walked by the bathroom and lit the candle thinking wow, somebody (me) stunk it up. I walked into the bedroom to ask her a question and I turned on the fan in the bathroom thinking, wow she really stunk it up. After talking for about 10 minutes, I noticed that the dog messed on the dog bed next to the bathroom causing the smell. My wife never mentioned the smell, I never mentioned the smell, it lingered the whole time we were talking. Had one of us just said something, we may have noticed the mess sooner, but we would have missed out on the laugh from our lack of communication. Jim Papanek read more... |
